We have an opening for a Junior to Intermediate Energy Analyst/Modeler

The role will include energy modelling and technical report writing, focusing on NECB energy compliance modelling for new construction and ASHRAE level 1, 2 and 3 energy assessments. Experience understanding engineering drawings, completing ASHRAE Energy assessments, NECB compliance modelling and using IES VE (Integrated Environmental Solutions Virtual Environment) and RETScreen will be essential. Some experience in AutoCAD, Cx Alloy and/or Recommissioning would be beneficial since there is an opportunity to be involved in building recommissioning and retro-commissioning projects.

Description of Duties:

You will work alongside mechanical, electrical and recommissioning professionals and be responsible for energy modelling using IES VE and RETScreen, energy assessments, recommissioning projects, writing technical reports and assisting with site visits and client presentations. Expect to be involved with client interface to coordinate the collection of building data, electrical, mechanical, architectural and structural drawings and coordinate site visits.

Expectations:

  • Experience with energy compliance using IES VE (Integrated Environmental Solutions Virtual Environment) and energy audits with RETScreen is highly valued
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and a general understanding of HVAC and building systems
  • Applicable credentials include but are not limited to: Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Engineer in Training (EIT), Alternative Energy Technologist (AET), Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP)
  • Proficient in Google G-Suite (Gmail, Drive, Calendar) and Microsoft Office (excel, work, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Proficiency in technical writing with a high level of attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to convey clear and unambiguous design information
  • Ability to interface with clients in a professional and cordial manner
  • Ability to be challenged, take constructive feedback, and handle challenging situations professionally
  • Strong work ethic is required; ability to support a fast paced, demanding work schedule with some travel
  • Strong team player with the ability to manage various size projects
  • Self-motivated, goal- oriented, and driven to accomplish department goals
  • Ability to be organized, problem solve, and be solution oriented
  • Familiarity with REVIT, and CAD Systems would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of the following codes and standards will be beneficial: NECB 2017, Alberta, BC, Yukon Building Codes, ASHRAE 90.1 Energy Standard for Buildings, ASHRAE 211 Commercial Building Energy Audits, ASHRAE 62.1 Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality
